The third 10th anniversary beer is a freestyle märzen, a challenge by the next generation of brewers' eggs with a Nagoya-ness x cutting-edge recipe.
The wine is a traditional märzen chestnut color with a light to medium body. The nose is lightly fragrant with spicy caramel aromas and savory notes, and the palate has a round sweetness like toast or honey. The finish is spicy and refreshing, making it a perfect match for sweet and spicy Nagoya meishi.
The soy sauce, sansho (Japanese pepper), and eel, which are secondary ingredients, are not too much, but still have a strong presence, and are fused with the royal märzen. This is a drink that should be enjoyed in a large glass, well chilled.
